Phlebotomy Technician Class Information

In 3-4 weeks you can earn your Phlebotomy Technician certificate and be ready to take the state test. A Phlebotomy Technician is an integral member of the medical laboratory team whose primary function is the collection of blood samples from patients. As a Phlebotomy Technician, you may perform some or all of the following tasks:

  1. Perform basic phlebotomy procedures
  2. Analyze information and make appropriate recommendations.
  3. Evaluate patients for ability to withstand venipuncture procedures.
  4. Explain procedures and answer patients questions.
  5. Perform basic point of care testing.
  6. Prepare blood, urine, and other body fluid specimens for testing.
  7. All of our phlebotomy training classes are comprehensive and emphasizes a “hands on” method.

These draws will be performed with supervision on other class or family members. Our instructors will guide students as they learn a variety of phlebotomy techniques. In addition, they will learn the “tricks of the trade” that will help with special patients and different draws.

Our phlebotomy program provides the student with the skills to succeed as a phlebotomist. This course contains 1 week of medical terminology and 3 weeks of lecture, discussion and practical instruction to earn the phlebotomy certification through the National Health Career Association. Our program Phlebotomy Technician graduates are the most competitive in the field.

Our instructor will guide the student as they learn a variety of types of blood drawing techniques, safety standards, basic anatomy and physiology and other areas such as:

  • HIPAA and patient’s rights
  • Universal precautions and safety
  • Venipuncture and vacutainers, butterfly's and syringes
  • Finger and heel sticks
  • Blood and blood components.
  • Medical laboratory terminology
  • Test tube additives and order of draw
  • Professionalism.
  • Special procedures - bleeding times, blood cultures, glucose tolerance testing.
  • Difficult draw
  • Tricks of the trade

Attire: Scrubs must be worn for all training classes and clinical hours.

Supplies that are recommended include a notebook, pens, pencils and high lighters.

Admissions Requirements:

  • 18 years of age or older
  • High School Diploma , GED or international High School Diploma
  • Government issued signed photo ID
  • Show proof of 1 step Mantoux tuberculin test (TB) within 12 month of the start of class.

The cost of this class is $1068.00 which includes: training fee, lab fee, liablity insurance and National testing fee. 

Refunds:
STUDENTS: YOU MUST CANCEL OUT OF YOUR CLASS BY 3 PM THE THURSDAY BEFORE THE FIRST DAY OF CLASS TO BE ELIGIBLE FOR A REFUND. FAILURE TO DO SO WILL FORFEIT ANY FEES PAID. 

FACILITES: YOU MUST CANCEL YOUR STUDENT OUT OF YOUR CLASS BY 3 PM THE THURSDAY BEFORE THE FIRST DAY OF CLASS TO BE ELIGIBLE FOR A REFUND. FAILURE TO DO SO WILL FORFEIT ANY FEES PAID. ANY STUDENT FAILING TO SHOW FOR CLASS WILL BE CONSIDERED A NO SHOW AND YOU WILL STILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE TRAINING FEES.
