State Tested Nursing Assistant Class Information

Careers4You Training Center offers nursing assistant training (STNA) that meet the education and testing requirements for nursing assistants as required by The Ohio Department of Health to work in a long term care facility. Upon success completion of the training program, graduate will obtain State of Ohio Nurse Aide Certificate and be qualified to take the State Nurse Aide (STNA) examination. Students will also receive free CPR training through this course. Careers4You Training Center provides training space for our students to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) on adults, children and infants as well as standard first aid skills.

What is an STNA?
An STNA, or State-Tested Nursing Assistant, is a person who assists individuals with healthcare needs and ADLs, or activities of daily living. The STNA also provides bedside care, including basic nursing procedures under the supervision of a Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse.

About Us:
Careers4You Training Center offers STNA classes in Findlay Ohio for all of Northwest Ohio. We are an approved Ohio Department of Health nurse aide training facility that provides STNA classes for Findlay and the surrounding area. At our facility, we offer classroom training and lecture hours as well as hands-on clinical hours. These criteria meet the Ohio Department of Health’s standards and guidelines. There are NO HIDDEN COSTS within our program.

Objectives and Goals:
STNA Training Program will cover the following topics: nurse aide roles, basis nursing skills, mental health, social service, legal issues, safety & security, signs and symptoms of disease, aging, death and dying, hygiene, grooming and mobility, body mechanics, nutrition, anatomy and physiology, infection control, communication skilled and resident rights. Students will master various personal care skills such as how to help a patient bathe, eat and groom themselves. Clinical experience allows students to demonstrate personal care skills in care settings under the supervision of a RN. (Clinical time maybe scheduled during the week or on the weekend.) The complete curriculum is set forth by Ohio Department of Health (ODH).

During training, nursing assistants will receive the information necessary for safe, effective and respectful care as outlined by the training requirements by the OBRA Act of 1987.

Graduates of Careers4You Training Center’s nurse aide program will also be certified in CPR. The certification is through the American Heart Association and is good for two years from the certification date.

Registration Requirements:

  • Government issued signed, not-expired, photo ID (IE-Drivers License, State ID, Military ID, Passport) and your original social Security card (FIRST DAY OF CLASS)
  • Any person registering to take the STNA class is required by the state of Ohio to have a negative Mantoux (TB) test result or chest X-ray from your physician or local health department, no older than 30 days. This is a 1 step TB.


Attendance is 100 percent required. You CANNOT miss ANY class or clinical time. If there is an emergency, you must talk with your instructor and the admissions coordinator about making up the time, and call Careers4You Training Center immediately if you are going to be absent. You will incur a fee of $25 per hour to make up the missed time with your instructor.

Registration and Fees:
Payment is due in full the Friday prior to the start of class. If you are registering online you can pay by credit card, or you can send in other payment. After you submit your online application please call the office and speak to our Admissions Coordinator to complete your application process. Fees for the class can be paid by cash, check, money order and Visa or MasterCard. Any returned checks will be charged a $35 NSF fee. The cost of this class is $450.00.

Financial aid is available through your local Job and Family Services office for those who qualify.

The class fee does NOT cover the state test fee of $100.00. You will receive an application for testing in class on the last day. Your payment must accompany this application in order to be scheduled with your class. Personal checks will not be accepted for the state testing fee

Our first aid and CPR certification is included in your class, you will not be charged extra for your certification.

Please be aware that we have a minimum number of students that we must reach monthly in order to hold class. We reserve the right to cancel class if that number is not reached. You will be contacted as soon as possible if class will not be held.
